The delights of non-electronic entertainment will be celebrated this Sunday at the Parkinson rec centre in Kelowna.

The annual ‘Unplug and Play’ kickoff event aims to offer free, fun, and creative ways for kids to enjoy themselves without using an electronic device.

A magic show, bouncy castle, bubble show, games, scientific experiments, and prizes are among the activities set for the rec centre, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The event is presented by Beem Credit Union and Project Literacy Central Okanagan.

Other events, including nature walks and library story times, are held throughout the week at various Kelowna locations. For more information, see unplugandplayweek.com

The Public Health Agency of Canada says screen time is not recommended for children under two years old. For children aged two to five, screen time should be limited to less than one hour a day.
