The Child & Youth Advocacy Centre of Kelowna (CYAC) is proud to announce the promotion of Ginny Becker from Executive Director to Chief Executive Officer, recognizing nearly a decade of exceptional leadership and dedicated service to the not-for-profit agency that has made a transformative impact on the Centre and the community it serves.

Over the past eight years, Ginny has been instrumental in building the Centre’s capacity and advancing its purpose to serve children and youth who have experienced abuse and neglect. Through her leadership, the CYAC has grown into a centre of excellence in providing coordinated, child-centred care, grounded in compassion, accountability, and a commitment to best practices. Her work has strengthened multidisciplinary collaboration and ensured that vulnerable children and youth are supported with dignified, evidence-based care on their journey to healing.

During her tenure, Ginny has guided the CYAC from its inception through significant organizational and capital growth, rallying supporters around the needs of vulnerable children. Her leadership has brought together partners, donors, and frontline professionals who share a vision of a safer community for children, creating a collaborative model of care that supports young survivors with dignity, expertise, and compassion. Her leadership has strengthened governance, expanded partnerships, and positioned the Centre to deepen its impact, driving innovation in service delivery all while remaining an independent, community-funded charitable organization.

Ginny’s passion for system change extends well beyond the CYAC’s walls. She has played a key role in advancing child advocacy practices provincially and nationally, contributing to a growing body of work dedicated to improving outcomes for children everywhere. Her guiding conviction, that every child’s journey should inform the next, has helped shape a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Today, the CYAC stands as a powerful example of what is possible through perseverance, partnership, and community support. The collaborative work of law enforcement, child protection, healthcare, victim services, and community agencies has created a unified response focused on protecting children, supporting healing, and strengthening families.

Reflecting on her new role, Ginny shared, “It is the greatest privilege of my career to serve this Centre and the children and families who place their trust in us. I am deeply grateful to our partners, our team, and our community, whose commitment makes this work possible. Together, we will continue to strengthen our coordinated response, improve services, and ensure that every child who comes through our doors is met with safety, compassion, and hope.”

As Chief Executive Officer, Ginny will continue to lead the Centre’s strategic growth, deepen partnerships, and advance its role as a leader in child advocacy and system improvement. The Board of Directors extends its deepest gratitude to Ginny for her exceptional leadership and looks forward to the continued impact of her work in this new role.
